The Sherrard, Coyne Center and Matherville fire departments was able to use a house slated for demolition for training exercises.
As part of the construction of the Fyre Lake National golf course, this house was slated for demolition. The developer graciously allowed the departments to use this house for training purposes.
The departments were able to use this house over the course of several weeks for search/rescue and smoke practice.
On the day of the burn we were able to practice ventilation, search and rescue, as well as having several live fire exercises before allowing the building to be safely burned.
A large number of photos were taken and can be viewed on our photo gallery.
You can also view the following slideshow of the photos. |

The Fyre Lake Viking ship, previously used as the office for Fyre Lake, had a true viking funeral when it was burned by the Sherrard Fire Department on September 10th. The ship had fallen into disrepair since it had not been in use for many years. The department used the ship in a training exercise in a practice burn. More pictures can be seen in the photo album. |
